YOUR BODY STORES EMOTIONAL ENERGY
& how to access it
There is potential energy stored in your body waiting for you to access, like a tense rubber band waiting to be released. Your tissues have been keeping all of this energy available for you, in the case that one day you decide that it’s time to expand into more aliveness than you’ve allowed yourself to express so far.
From time to time, you may experience accessing this energy, but for the most part, modern humans live at a very small percentage of their capacity. The potential is so big that in order to continue storing all of that energy the body tenses up until you can barely sway your hips while you walk (remember the rubber band). You might be able to imagine the consequences that develop over time.
To offer an analogy - even if a car has had a regulator installed for its whole lifespan, it still has the capacity to access the full power of its engine. Even if it’s only been driven at half speed, it can still hit top speed. Even if it’s only been driven 10miles each time, it can still travel the 300miles that its tank allows.
You are neither a car nor a machine, but as a human being, you have all of this unrealized potential to be bigger, more clear, more sensitive, clairvoyant, insanely creative, telepathic, you name it.
We’re seeing the evidence of untapped potential across the board from documentaries like The Telepathy Tapes to research studies in quantum physics. But you don’t need all of that evidence to find out for yourself. You know you’re only accessing a small fraction of your potential. It turns out that you not only have nearly infinite potential energy, you also have the sensors to sense your power. What you need are experiments you can do to pull out the storage boxes full of energy in your body with which you can access your inherent powers and empirically sense the results.
Where does human energy come from?
Human beings source their energy from their feelings. As the saying goes, “nothing happens until somebody feels something”. That is because in order to do something you need the energy to do it. Some might call it ‘inspiration’. Call it what you may, that energy comes from your body in some version of anger, fear, sadness or joy.
Interestingly, your feelings also provide you with information. For instance, when you are angry, you’re not just angry. You’re angry about of something. Which means there’s something that you want to start, stop or change. Then, if you were able to sense your anger at subtle levels, you would get the clarity about what that energy was directing you towards.
Maybe you’re angry about there being a microwave in your kitchen because it poisons your food. With the energy and information available, you have the full potential to take the step to take the microwave and throw it out the window (metaphorically, of course).
Power is a function of energy levels available over time. The last bit, “over time”, actually means that the faster you can source an amount of energy, the more power you have. A lighting bolt has more power than the same energy pulsed over an extended period of time. So, if you’re a little angry about the microwave for a long time, you probably won’t do anything, but if you can let the anger get really big, the microwave will fly out the window faster than you could ever have imagined.
So, If you still notice yourself hesitating on taking an important step, you could turn the volume up on the energy of your anger just enough to start yourself into motion.
The process of connecting with anger, described above, is a form of inner alchemy. The ability to draw clarity from your feelings, to turn the intensity of your feelings up and down, and to direct your life towards that clarity; is all possible for you. This is what your body has the capacity to do for you, if you’d come back into partnership with it.
Of course, that might all be too much for your mind to handle. You may hear yourself saying something like, “that’s all wonderful in theory, but..” or “I don’t need my anger to do things. I already do a lot” or “I don’t want to be an angry person”.
But how many times have you entered into a space to practice directing your anger consciously towards a purpose greater than yourself?
If you have, then I’m preaching to your choir. You’re probably already nodding your head. Great!
If you haven’t, I invite you to go try it. You’d be shocked to find that all of those voices are just there trying to stop you from becoming as big as you have the potential to be. You might find that you feel angry about how much you stifle your anger.
Why?
Because it’s terrifying to consider showing up in the world that big. You would certainly be targeted for it. Most people who have access to that kind of internal energy are targeted. Your fear is quite accurate. People who use their anger consciously are hated, criticized, and ignored. I’m not talking about politicians or executives or social media influencers. I’m talking about the change-makers you don’t hear about in the news. The real change-makers have already been cancelled or killed for being so committed to something bigger than themselves. They don’t hit the mainstream because the mainstream will not vindicate the ones who are an example of the full scope of human potential, unless they have found a compelling reason to villainize them.
I dare not put examples here because they’ve already been so warped by the news that someone would write a nasty comment on this post proclaiming about how dare I consider them to be worthy of praise after what they’ve done.
That’s how good the media is at convincing us that being powerful is a bad idea. It’s not just the media, of course. It’s reinforced in school, religion, corporations, healthcare, and diffused out through these institutions into our homes.
As much as we’d like to find someone to point to as the source of the problem, there is no ‘they’ that are pushing the agenda of tamping down human potential. No ‘they’ could be so precise and ubiquitous to do that. Instead, it is a cultural structure installed in all of us. One that has taken residence in every mind that has participated in the modern culture. In you and me and the rest of the humans you know.
The people who write the kind of article you are currently reading are not free of the cultural structure from which they were born. I am no different from you. Instead, these writers have become aware of the inner structure enough that they get to choose to try something else. Moment-to-moment we are faced with the patterns we took on through our childhood. They seem as natural as breathing air.
Until that one day that you choose to question the thoughts behind your thoughts. Maybe you read an article like this one or go to a training/workshop or enter into a conversation with someone who helps you look behind the veil.
Either way, the day you find that there’s a curtain and that you can look behind it, that is the most devastating day of your life. You no longer have access to the air you’ve been breathing your whole life. Everything you knew to be true or right or valid suddenly crumbles right before your eyes. You might feel depressed or enraged. You might totally crumble under the weight of realizing that your whole life you have been accessing just a small sliver of your potential.
That could be the day you start to feel again. That day you could enter the pathless path. That could be the day you start living.
When all of the pains and feelings that have been stored by your body burst open, it is overwhelming as hell.
And you have two options: 1) keep cracking open or 2) find better ways to numb yourself.
Along the way you will get overwhelmed, dysregulated.. you’ll want to give up, experience hopelessness, and the rest. And you will also feel ecstatic, alive, available, connected to something much bigger, and the rest.
For whatever it’s worth, I promise that if you choose to keep cracking open, over time (maybe 2-3yrs), you will stabilize into a new capacity to direct all of this energy that is flowing through your system. In my case, it was about 4yrs, like a college degree only with way more real life experience.
Like a college degree, this path offers you access to people who can support you. They aren’t easy to find, but you know you’ve found one of them when you’re feeling something like anger, fear or sadness, and they encourage you to keep going. When you find someone who doesn’t try to change your state and instead supports you to go all the way through it, then you know you’re in connection with someone who authentically cares about your being shining through into the world.
They want you to be alive. They want you to access the energy stored in your body. They want you to be healthy.
I suggest you keep them close by.
